 About the Conference

Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), an AACSB Accredited Deemed to be University, has been organizing the Conference on Empirical Issues in International Trade & Finance (EIITF) biennial alternatively in its Delhi and Kolkata campuses since 2008. A large number of National and International dignitaries working in the field of International Trade and Finance have traditionally participated in the conference.

This year the conference will be held in Kolkata Campus on 12th and 13th December, 2024.

The theme for this year's EIITF Conference is ''Emerging Issues in International Trade Finance and Development''.

The world has been going through tumultuous times since the onset of COVID-19 in early 2020. Just when the recovery process from this traumatic experience begun, further disruptive geopolitical incidents began to affect large parts of the world. The Russia-Ukraine war, the Israel-Hamas conflict, Houthis disruptions of the Red Sea trade route, conflicts in Africa, coupled with the International movement of displaced people in Western Europe and into the US are the some of the major incidents that profoundly affected International economic progress in the past two years.

The conference this year is being organized in this backdrop. We expect to receive papers on the above issues and their effects on individual economies or the World economy.

However, the conference will not be limited to the above topics. As usual, any topic falling under the Journal of Economic Literature (JEL) classification E, F, G, L, and O will be considered for presentation at the conference.

Shortlisted papers in the conference will be considered for publishing in the Institute’s Journal Foreign Trade Review. The papers will undergo the usual peer review process of the journal.

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) was set up in 1963 by the Government of India as an autonomous organisation to help professionalise the country's foreign trade management and increase exports by developing human resources; generating, analysing and disseminating data; and conducting research. Today it is one of India's most prestigious business schools.

No registration fee. But, it's mandatory to register by giving all your relevant details to submit a paper.

The Conference aims to have intellectual discourse on issues related to international trade and finance and provide platform to the researchers for communicating their views on their intellectual standing of empirical research in international economics.

To encourage young researchers who are currently pursuing PhD in the area of international trade and finance a separate track is added in the Conference. The session is open for all doctoral students pursuing PhD in Indian universities ( or recently submitted their thesis but degree is awaited).
